It’s starting to heat up here in PVD and at Enjoy HQ! We got a big month ahead of us and an absolute perfect coffee to pair with the warmer days ahead.

Introducing our June Drop - Colombia Ruby Urbano Caturra from our friends at Cofinet.

Ruby is the matriarch of the Pajajoy Urbano family who live on a small farm in the municipality of La Unión, Nariño. Ruby, her two daughters, Catherine and Yeli, and her husband Alberto, shared Ruby’s dream of growing coffee, and the passion of the countryside and nature. They started doing some research of how best to prepare their land for successful long term farming and planted their first seeds. Their first few harvests were great learning experiences and successful as they were able to sell their coffees at the local markets. Harvest after harvest, Ruby and her family gained experience and people began to recognize their coffees for the quality and consistency and had suggested that they look to export their harvest to the international market. Fast forward to today, the Urbano name carries substantial clout in the specialty world for some impeccably clean and vibrant cups.

Ruby works with the COOMERCAICAFE cooperative in Nariño which was founded in 2003 with the objective of gathering the best coffees from the region, supporting coffee growers in the production of specialty coffee to ensure their quality, traceability, and marketing efforts.

The lot we have here is a washed, single variety lot of Caturra grown at 1600 MASL. Cherries were picked with a strict ripeness criteria, then floated and hand sorted to remove any defects. The cherries are then exposed to a 30 hour wet, in cherry fermentation before being pulped. From there, parchment is gently washed and dried in temperature controlled conditions until ideal moisture content is reached. This 30 hour in cherry wet fermentation certainly adds some magic to what on paper, reads as a balanced sessionable coffee - which it still is. But Ruby’s lot of Caturra here is an absolutely elevated cup. Focused, round, and sweet mixed berry vibes jump out of the cup while hot which transition to a brighter, citric and more pointed cup as it cools. A lasting finish of caramel really adds to the balance of this coffee.

It crushes as a hot coffee. It crushes as a flash brewed iced coffee. Just brew it any and all the ways and bask in the radness of a super dank Caturra.

Snag a bag and Enjoy my peeps.
